Dear Friends,
I hope this letter finds you and all your loved ones doing well and enjoying this holiday season. As I reflect on the events of these past two years, I am in awe of what we, as a party, have accomplished. I'm also in awe of the amount of work that is ahead of us if we are to hang on to the gains we made in 2008. We've all heard the bleak news from our elected officials about how hard this next election cycle will be for all of us. I have no doubt that we will prevail, but we do have our work cut out for us.
Â
As you're all aware, one of my responsibilities within the party is to help raise funds. We need money for a number of purposes, including keeping the doors to headquarters open, paying for postage, printing/copying, caucus and primary costs; in essence, to support our elected officials. Fundraising is not an easy task in this difficult economic environment, especially after so much money was spent on the 2008 presidential election.
I have spent a number of days calling Central Committee members asking for individuals to help support the party by purchasing raffle tickets. I can't tell you how many people tell me that they have lost their jobs and that the holiday season won't allow them to contribute to the party right now. I totally understand their plight, but that doesn't diminish the need for a certain amount of funds to run our party. Specifically, what we need right now is a 100% sell-out of our annual football raffle. I have not gotten any reports back from our elected officials that they are experiencing any difficulties selling their tickets, but I have over 300 tickets that need to be sold in the next 4 days. To our elected officials, if you need help calling your people, please let me know and I will get you that help. If you are an individual, please call me and purchase as many tickets as you can.
Please do all you can to help us make this a successful fundraiser for our party. I am available to meet with you at your convenience, please call me at 303.641.2502 or email me at
